Tension erupts in Bihar's Gopalganj after priest shot dead; Eyes gouged out

In Bihar's Gopalganj district, a 32-year-old priest named Manoj Kumar was found dead yesterday with gunshot wounds and his eyes gouged out. The gruesome discovery was made late in the evening, and officials reported additional injuries on his private parts. Manoj Kumar, who had been missing since Monday night, was last seen leaving the Shiva temple in Danapur village at around midnight. The victim's brother, Ashok, is a former BJP worker, adding a political dimension to the tragedy.

The discovery of Manoj Kumar's body led to heightened tensions in the village, resulting in clashes between locals and the police. Accusations of police negligence surfaced, prompting villagers to stage protests on the national highway. The situation escalated as protesters threw stones at the police, injuring two officers and setting a police vehicle on fire.

Manoj Kumar's family had filed a missing complaint on Tuesday, leading to a search operation. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pranjal assured that the situation is now under control, with additional police forces deployed.
